Due to renovation work at Lahinch Seaworld, the complex will be closed for most of 2020. As a result Dive Academy is moving to new premises on Inis Mór (Innishmore), the largest of the three Aran Islands.
Is an exciting adventure for Dive Academy and opens a world of new possibilities for our customers and divers. Dive Academy will be located in the grounds of Aran Islands Camping and Glamping (https://www.irelandglamping.ie/) and we will work closely in collaboration with them to provide accommodation for our divers as well, potentially, as dive vacation packages.
Inis Mór is an island of outstanding beauty with rolling hills, burrenesque landscape, cliffs (with the famous Worm Hole) and historical sites, such as Dun Aengus. The beauty of the island is matched by the stunning underwater scenery of the many dive sites to be explored. Inis Mór is accessible by ferry (from Doolin in Clare and Rossaveel in Galway) and also by plane from Connemara Airport by Inverin in Galway.
The dive centre will be a short distance from a sandy beach, that is sheltered by the harbour walls, from here we can host Try Dives and snorkeling tours as well as shore dives to the adjacent rocky promontory which is home to a seal colony.
We will have semi-permanent mooring for the Dive Academy boat at the harbour and will host many boat dives in the sites all around Inis Mór and the other islands. In fact, as we will be on an Island, we will be able to visit accessible dive sites at any time regardless of weather, tides or sea conditions, as there is always somewhere that is protected from the prevailing wind and surge.
We have a lot of work to do to get our new Dive Centre ready, but we hope to officially open on March 1st 2020 and we look forward to welcoming all our divers to this exciting new location.
